On to the next speed-post, we have Megami Magazine Volume 161, issued back in October 2013. Some of you may be asking, “but Nopy, where’s volume 159 and 160?” Well, due to a little mix-up and me moving to Toronto, I didn’t realize that I hadn’t gotten 159 and 160 until a few months later. By that point, both volumes were already sold out so there’s nothing I can do about it now.
Back to volume 161 though, the cover features the two lolis of the Monogatari series: Mayoi and Shinobu. It’s a refreshing change from the usual sexy covers that Megami Magazine usually employs, and it’s a treat for Monogatari fans. As with the previous Megami post, this will be shorter in order to give me time to catch up with my backlog. Posters will have the titles of the anime they’re from underneath, followed with a brief overview of all of them at the very end.

For those who are following the Monogatari series, there are some pages dedicated to it in this volume.
One of the pages includes an illustration from the series. I don’t know about the rest of you, but after the latest season, I’d have to say that Kaiki is the best character and they need to include him in here.
Here’s an interesting product for those who aren’t involved in the world of dakimakura. For nearly double the price, you can get a Highschool DxD dakimakura, but what’s special about this one is that you can take off Rias’s clothing and fondle her. Mmm, who doesn’t like squeezing some pillow stuffing?
I’m not a fan of the Robot Girls Z series, but I have to admit that their character designs caught my eye.
As usual, the Anime Character Catch Up section covered some new and upcoming series.
Something that hasn’t been in Megami Magazine in a while is the 3D girls section. The feature 3D girl in this volume is Nozomi Yamamoto. She’s not a very popular voice actress, but you may recognize her name from such roles as Ogiue from Genshiken Nidaime and Yukimura from Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.
The back cover features the ever-smiling Neptune from Choujigen Game Neptune.
As for the large B2 sized poster included in this volume, it features some of the girls from Girls und Panzer in their school swimsuits.
The reverse side features the girls from Highschool DxD in nekomimi bikinis.
There were a few impressive posters in this volume. I liked the flowing hair and flame background in the Symphogear poster and loved the pose of Madoka with Sayaka in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica poster. I’ve been finding that Megami Magazine posters all seem to recycle the same poses every now and then. Notice how the Fantasista Doll and Railgun posters are essentially the same (one girl helping another with their clothes). I’d like Megami a lot more if they had some more dynamic poses or just simply more detailed illustrations rather than plain characters like the Monogatari and Rozen Maiden posters.
